Cronus was known as the leader and the youngest of the first generation of Titans to most people, but in the Dynamics NAV community it is known as the the demonstration company name for Dynamics NAV. It comes with its own CRONUS license, that allows you to testdrive the system. Most people think it only allows you to use it to evaluate the application features in Dynamics NAV, but it actually also allows you to test parts of the development environment.
Not a lot, but it gives you access to inserting fields on an existing table, adding them to a existing form. As well as creating new forms and reports. What objects does it give access to?
The CRONUS license file gives access to Microsoft Dynamics NAV functionality, with the following restrictions:
- You can only enter dates in November, December, January, and February.
- The size of the database can be a maximum of 100MB.
- You are only allowed to make 4000 write transactions in a database.
In addition, you can modify the following objects in the Object Designer:
- Table 18 can be modified. Fields from 99,990 through 99,999 can be inserted.
- Forms 21 and 22 can be modified. Forms 99,998 and 99,999 can be inserted.
- Report 101 can be modified. Report 99,999 can be inserted.
- MenuSuite 90 can be inserted.
- XML Port 99,999 can be inserted.
With the MSDN license, you can create new objects (tables, forms, reports, and so on) in the object range from 123,456,700 through 123,456,799. It is not possible to edit the standard Microsoft Dynamics NAV objects or the objects dedicated to customer solutions.

Microsoft Dynamics® NAV 4.0 and 5.0
To install Microsoft® Business Solutions-Navision®, now part of Microsoft Dynamics®, select Demo on the CD menu and then Install Demonstration Version. When you get to the screen where you can select the type of installation, you must select Complete. This installs the complete version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV, with the complete application. It is the license file that determines what you have access to.
The MSDN license file is required to unlock additional functionality in Microsoft Dynamics NAV. To complete your Microsoft Dynamics NAV installation, you must download and import the MSDN license file. To do this, from the Microsoft Dynamics NAV application screen, click Tools, License Information, and then click Import. After importing the MSDN license file, close the license information window and then click File and select the Cronus company to open the application again.

I’ve found a copy of the Cronus sample database together with the whole NAV package on the web. Is this legal for use or teaching purposes as it is a DEMO version, or even the DEMO comes with the license of the whole package?
